Optimal Dag Partitioning for Partially Inverting Triangular Systems

چکیده
An approach for solving sparse triangular systems of equations on highly parallel computers employs a partitioned representation of the inverse of the triangular matrix so that the solution can be obtained by a series of matrix-vector multiplications. This approach requires a number of global communication steps that is proportional to the number of factors in the partitioning. The problem of nding the minimal number of factors subject to the requirement that these factors do not need more storage space than the original triangular factor has been studied by several authors. We formulate a new related graph problem and give an algorithm to solve this problem. We prove that the partitioning resulting from this algorithm requires less factors than existing partitioning algorithms.

A POMDP Framework to Find Optimal Inspection and Maintenance Policies via Availability and Profit Maximization for Manufacturing Systems
Maintenance can be the factor of either increasing or decreasing system's availability, so it is valuable work to evaluate a maintenance policy from cost and availability point of view, simultaneously and according to decision maker's priorities. This study proposes a Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) framework for a partially observable and stochastically deteriorating syste...

Finding the origin of short phrases propagating through the web has been formalized by Leskovec et al. [ACM SIGKDD 2009] as DAG PARTITIONING: given an arc-weighted directed acyclic graph on n vertices and m arcs, delete arcs with total weight at most k such that each resulting weakly-connected component contains exactly one sink—a vertex without outgoing arcs. DAG PARTITIONING is NP-hard. We sh...
متن کاملAn interval-valued programming approach to matrix games with payoffs of triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers
The purpose of this paper is to develop a methodology for solving a new type of matrix games in which payoffs are expressed with triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (TIFNs). In this methodology, the concept of solutions for matrix games with payoffs of TIFNs is introduced. A pair of auxiliary intuitionistic fuzzy programming models for players are established to determine optimal strategies...
متن کاملParallel Sparse Triangular Solution with Partitioned Inverses and Prescheduled Dags
Sparse triangular solution ooers a challenging irregular problem for parallel systems. The repeated solution of the system Lx = b, where L is a lower triangular factor of a sparse matrix, arises in numerous applications. A previous study 1] has shown that, if L is an incomplete factor, Lx = b can be eeciently solved on a parallel system through substitution. This was accomplished by representin...

The goal of tracking the origin of short, distinctive phrases (memes) that propagate through the web in reaction to current events has been formalized as DAG Partitioning: given a directed acyclic graph, delete edges of minimum weight such that each resulting connected component of the underlying undirected graph contains only one sink. Motivated by NP-hardness and hardness of approximation res...
